Just Some Things Not to Forget

This whole "Growing Up McDill" was basically created to keep out of town family and friends in the loop of Christopher happenings. Then it became a way to remember all of the fun/horrific things that Christopher did. Nana and Granddaddy moved down here... Caleb came along and it seems like the blog went to the wayside. However, tonight... I kept thinking about how sweet and innocent Caleb is and figured I better get to documenting some of his antics.

So here are some things (about Caleb) not to forget...

1. I will probably need this reminder next year this time (or sometime soon) when Caleb becomes a threenager- he has to be the sweetest little munchkin ever. I don't think he has been in timeout more than MAYBE three times and it's not because I am a pushover, it's because he is. "Caleb, stop doing that...." He looks... does it once more.. "Caleb..." "Okay, mommy (insert sweet, sweet grin)" Done. Or my favorite- when you speak all stern to him and he puts his head down, quivering lip and you see those eyes peer up all teary. Now they aren't huge Christopher eyes, but they look hurt and you can just tell how hurt his feelings are that you are disappointed and that he might (gasp) be in trouble.

2. A couple weeks ago lunch was served at the little table complete with an iPad and YouTube Kids. The boys- ecstatic, the parents- feet up on the couch. Then out of nowhere I look up and Caleb is staring at Christopher and in his little voice... "Hey brother..." This is what Caleb does all day long. (I have to wonder if he does it to his teachers too.) Whether Caleb is playing or eating or just laying around, randomly you will hear "Hey mommy" or "Hey (basically whoever is there)." Maybe one day one of you readers will be lucky enough to hear your name. :)

3. Cay-Cay. One day he might be too old for me to call him that, but for now- I love it. And so does he. I especially love that at the end of a video his school posted- his teacher called him that too. Probably why he likes her so much.

4. His love for Thomas the Train- I thought all boys were in love with trains.... but of course Christopher proved me wrong with that one, but Caleb- oh no. He could play trains allllll day. At the end of the night he lays in bed and names all of the Thomas trains on the track in his room. If you heard him say Clarabel you would melt too.

Okay- just a few pics to remember too!

Okay... I am sure there is lots more to write. I hope I take the time to do it!
Be kind.

Beginning of Summer

Summer has started. Today we have already played in the playroom, taken naps, and played outside. Christopher is watching his iPad and Caleb is hitting balls off the tee and running around. I was on Facebook for the millionth time and thought maybe I should update the blog- that thing I used to be so good at keeping up with. Maybe that should be my summer goal. :)

Alot has been happening since my last blog update, but since most of you follow us on Facebook you already know. I am going to do my best to share pictures and not go on and on.

The first set of pictures are from our beach vacation over Spring Break. We went to Cape San Blas in Florida and had an amazing time. Nothing to do but hang out on the beach. There are places about 20-30 minutes away with things to do, but we didn't go to any of them. The beach was really all we were looking for. Christopher had a great time. He made friends with kids 2 houses down and they played almost every day. Caleb enjoyed his time to. By the end of the week, he seemed to have adjusted to the sand. He wore tennis shoes most of the time down there. He had no sand issues last year when we went.

The next set of pictures are from baseball. The last time I posted, the baseball season had just started. Well, the Cubs went all the way to the championship and won! Matt was the pitcher for the team and by the end of the season Christopher had made his way to the second base position. He was quite proud of himself. Matt is also an assistant coach for the 5U All-Star team. Christopher is playing second base for them. He is getting so confident in his ability to stop grounders- I am hoping he backhands one and throws a runner out before the season ends. He is getting closer.

And now just some randoms...

Sweaty mess after the playground

We hatched chicks at my school so Christopher got to hold them.

First sleepover at a friend's house!

Popsicles on the porch.

Caleb before he went to sleep for his nap today.

Christopher sang karaoke for the first time. He chose God Bless America.

Poor Caleb- so tired at dinner.

Caleb is obsessed with puppies- especially Puppy Dog Pals on Disney.

Christopher and his baseball buddy heading to the Braves game.

In other news, Christopher graduated from pre-K in May and starts Kindergarten at St. Catherine's in the fall. You would think I would have pictures of that graduation ceremony....

I think that's life caught up in a nutshell.
Happy Summer!

2 Month Update!

2 months have passed- so much has been happening.

Christopher started his 3rd season of baseball- I know he likes it, but he asks quite often if he can try other sports too. This summer he wants to try a soccer camp and do golf camp again. He keeps asking about football too and I keep ignoring that question. I figure at this age my job is to expose him to as many sports as I can and let him decide- well except football. I also asked if he wanted to go to a camp that taught him how to read to which he replied- I will learn to read by you reading books to me, mommy. Christopher also had his kindergarten screening. He said he got to play with Legos, color and do his letters and numbers. He also was sure to tell me at first that they DID NOT ask him his daddy's phone number- which he is having a hard time remembering. When we were little, it was just memorize your home number, but now we had to decide which to teach him first- daddy's cell, mommy's cell or the home phone. Sister walked in to meet him while he was coloring. She came back to tell me she met Christopher and she said "He was quite focused on his coloring."  And I totally knew what that meant. There have been many days I have come home from work and he has been coloring and all I get is a "hi" with a head down. He is quite the colorer I will say.

Everything in the world belongs to Caleb. I love it when Loki comes around and he yells MINE. He loves Me Mou (Mickey Mouse) and gives the best kisses. My favorite is the Christopher kiss. I was making dinner one night and I kept hearing Christopher laughing and Caleb make the kiss noise over and over and I turn around and he had his hands on Christopher's face kissing him. Caleb also needs a haircut like no other but his hair does this perfect little flip out and looks adorable- maybe before the beach he will get one. :) He did just recently have his 18 month checkup- like 90% for height... and 10% for weight. He is soooooo tiny. His 18 month clothes are quite big on him. He is still so stinkin' cuddly and sweet.

Lots of pics below!

the 100th day of school!

We went to the GA Tech/Notre Dame game. Christopher decided he is no longer a Notre Dame fan because they didn't bring their cheerleaders.

J. Crew had matching daddy/son shirts! Matt has had his for awhile so his is a tad faded. Perfect Valentine's Day outfits though. :)
This child NEVER sleeps during the day. I had to document it.

Stuffing his face, as always.

Bedhead. He loves his sleep.

Sometimes waffles with ice cream and strawberries is dinner.

This child loves him a French Dip. Thanks Lisa for the scrumptious easy as pie recipe!

Christopher performed at the Fish Fry with his preschool. I wish you could see the little girl on the right. She is the only girl invited to his birthday.

Matt swears this looks like Caleb. It is me when I was a little older than him. Mom found an autobiography I wrote about myself in 6th grade.

Opening Day parade. I made the banner.

Don't they look excited!!

My headband for running. I had mentioned to Matt (like around Christmas) that I wished I had a headband that covered my ears and had a hole for my ponytail.... C made me one last week.

18 month checkup.

He copied that from Caleb's chair.

Caleb loves play-doh.

Christopher's class pet came home with him a couple weeks ago!

Lunch at Miss L's.

Okay. I think that's it!! Lots of pics- have a great week!! :)
Be kind.
