Happy Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day... It felt very weird when Matt rolled over and said Happy Mother's Day this morning. I definitely did not think that I would be celebrating Mother's Day a year ago other than calling my mom to wish her a happy day... nor did I think we would have bought a new house either... or that I would have survived walking 60 miles in 3 days..pregnant.  This past year has certainly been a whirlwind.  :)  The best news is... the blog will now have VIDEO! Christopher bought me a Sony Bloggie video recorder and now I just have to figure out how to do it. That will be on my list of things to do this week! And his other present to me was to be awake ALL DAY- fussiness and all! :)  But he is asleep now... until we wake him up to bathe him here in a bit. Mom sent me 2 beautiful cards and a gift card to New York and Co- I have soooo missed shopping there!!! I can't wait to go get some cute summer outfits!

Today I packed away all of his newborn clothes. Matt was asking why I was going to pack them away.. he said "Why? They are just going to sit in the basement for 18years!" I guess he doesn't plan on having more kids... or at least any more boys. My dad asked when #2 was coming... and I said "not until you move here!" Or we could always off load both these houses, get a new teaching job, transfer Matt's office and move to Virginia Beach! :)

I went to Christopher's baptism class as well on Saturday. Anthony is going to be his godfather and Matt's sister, Cindy, will be his godmother. Anthony registered with our church and has to go to class in June, but other than that just have to go and pick our date! We have chosen June 30th... which if you know us you should know that date.... it's our 5 year wedding anniversary (and my dad's 65th birthday!) We are going to do a private baptism- that way we can have that date.

I finished all my schoolwork this weekend- a teacher's job is never over!

Uncle Anthony came to visit us this weekend. Rocco stood guard whereever Christopher was.

The book we read today.
We also started reading Pinnochio- good life lesson book says Matt.

Finally sleeping- he slept while we ate dinner (which was FABULOUS).

The McFadden's gave Christopher this super soft blanket from Pottery Barn.
Stroonz loves it. :)

I hope all of my friends and blog readers had a wonderful day!!
Oh and if you see at the top of the blog this big white space with a submit button- I think if you enter your email address there, and click submit it will notify you when I update! ... I think.

Have a wonderful week!!

I. DON'T. WANT. TO.

This is something I say to Matt when he asks me to do something that I don't want to do. It's like when someone asks you to do something that you really don't want to do, so you make up some lame excuse so you don't feel bad stating...I JUST DON'T WANT TO. Luckily, you don't have to do that with your spouse. You can simply state- I. DON'T. WANT. TO. and they still have to love you anyway. Well, if Christopher could have spoken last night- those would have been his exact words- no excuses necessary. We have a great nighttime routine-
Matt comes home and changes.
I hand off Christopher and make dinner.
We eat.
I shower.
Christopher gets a bath.
He eats.
Christopher cuddles with Matt.
At 9, I go to bed.
The end.
That was not happening last night. Christopher was sooooo fussy. He has been fussier lately than normal. WHAT IS IT??? I am ready to be able to understand his different cries. After changing his diaper, putting pressure on his tummy, feeding him a little more, walking around patting his behind... I took him upstairs at 9:30. Well, HE. DIDN'T. WANT. TO..... go to sleep. He has been fighting sleep like crazy this week.  After 45 minutes of straight fussing, I finally took him upstairs and rocked him in his glider and he calmed down- I handed him over to Matt and within 10 minutes he was asleep.

The fussiness sure is worth it though when you peek over and see this in the morning.

The park wore him out yesterday afternoon! We walked 2 miles.

Stacy and Emerson brought Christopher his first Mickey straight from Disney!

Our book of the day- that I read to him to get him to fall asleep for a morning snooze.

Finally finished my Pinterest project!! Just had to add the clothespins!

That's it for now!!
Have a blessed day!

Keeping Busy

Christopher and I have had such a great week togther (other than all the peeing on Monday). He is back to eating every 3 hours- so I guess that growth spurt is over... and I hope I am not jinxing myself.

We decided to get out of the house yesterday. When we tried to go walking on Monday, it started raining, so we did things that did not revolve around being outside on Tuesday. We went and got all signed up for insurance and then called Matt and went down to visit him at work.  Thankfully it was right around Matt's lunchtime and he didn't have a lunch scheduled so we got to have lunch with him. Of course we went somewhere that wasn't too crowded-Twisted Taco- (as the doctor said not to take him to crowded places like the mall or restaurants).  Christopher was amazingly good- probably because he had a nice full belly.

getting ready to leave Twisted Taco-
I wonder if Christopher will be a tie-wearing adult.
Christopher gets amazing athletic ability from not just his dad,
but his mom too- so probably not. :) maybe on game days.

We came home and our house was getting cleaned so Christopher and I just sat in the chair and he made the greatest faces for like 20 minutes straight. I love looking at his little faces that he makes- even if right now they are just random.

One thing Christopher and I do every day is read books. Yesterday we started reading  a children's Bible that one of my students had given me. I figure I need to get him ready for his baptism- which unfortunately we aren't going to be able to do Memorial Day weekend, but in June instead. Technicalities. We read about creating, Adam and Eve and Noah's Ark. He feel asleep while I was reading. He may go to church for the first time this weekend. That should be interesting- pray for us!

Thank you Gallman family.

oops- Thanks to Jennifer for this book she got at her school book fair!

We also read Dumbo on Monday... this is quite a long book.
I didn't think we would make it through it but we did!

all snuggled up this morning

before he went to bed Tuesday night

from Monday night- sporting a baseball outift... so the next day I had
to dress him in a different sport...

Mom doesn't like this outfit because of the skull- but
it's hockey sticks..not really a skull :)

We have guests on their way so that's it for now!
Have a blessed day!

It's Better to be Pissed Off, than Pissed On.

Well, I am not pissed off- but I have certainly been pissed on- 3 times in fact today. I was just thinking the other day how lucky we are because Christopher doesn't typically pee when his diaper is off. Don't get me wrong, it does happen- BUT nothing like it has since last night. In fact, last night's I tried to ricochet off my hand sending it onto the wall and Christopher's face. And wouldn't you know my biggest concern was that it had trickled down into the power outlet and was going to catch the house on fire. :) Matt has the peepee teepee thing down perfect. He can hold Christopher's legs up and the teepee on and put the diaper underneath- me, not so much. Maybe I need to watch Matt change a few diapers because we have been through 3 onesies today.

Christopher is snoozing away right now. He has been so good today. After staying awake last night from 11-2, things are much better.  I was afraid today would be a little rough because I have been alternating his feedings between nursing and formula, but he has done really well. There is normally an issue with him taking the bottle from me and him being incredibly messy with it, but today he seemed okay with it. I hope that continues. :) We just read Dumbo and he is passed out in his swing- taking a little snooze before his daddy gets home. Matt's job is always to keep him awake as long as possible when he gets home from work. That should be easy today because he has been a good napper and he has been awake a lot. Fingers crossed that he isn't up from 11-2 again tonight.

Countdowns...
10 days til Christopher turns 1 month old
14 days til I hopefully get clearance to go to the gym again
18 days til my parents arrive

Busy, Busy Baby

Christopher had a HUGE Saturday. He slept through most of it, but at least we tried to create some memories for him.

- We started the day off with a trip to Swift Cantrell to walk a few miles. Christopher and I had attempted to do this on Friday, but when we got there we spotted a creepy guy- so we left. Matt says we can't go alone now. :( (so if anyone ever wants to join us- CALL ME!!!) Christopher was awake for the first part of the walk but by half of a mile he was passed out. I am proud to say that I made it two miles today before my knees started hurting, which was an increase since Thursday!!
As you can tell it was very hard to see whehther his eyes were sleeping or not, as we had to shield him from the sun.

-Next, we went and watched Matt get his haircut- well, I watched. Christopher once again slept through it all.

- Then, it was time for the Cinco de Mayo party at our pool. We took Christopher up there with our neighbors and met the Falk family up there as well. Again... sleeping. It was fun to see the pool, as this is our first summer in the neighborhood. Hopefully, it will never be that busy again! They do have these great canopies that Christopher will be able to sit under, which I was pleased to see.

- To end the night we had dinner at the Falks with the Jones family- a nice way to end the day.

We tortured him at the end of the night by making him take a bath. He always looks so sweet after his bath all bundled in his hooded towel and then in his pajamas.

Christopher also had somewhat of a milestone last night... he slept in his crib! Well, not for the whole night- for three hours though. I had taken him back into our bedroom and he was acting hungry still. I dropped him off in his crib while I went to make him an ounce of formula...and when I came back- he was asleep! He slept so soundly- I, on the other hand, was not prepared for him to be sleeping in there so I camped out on his floor just in case he woke up freaking out. I have decided to try the crib thing at 6 weeks. Until then, he can stay with us and sleep in there for naps and such.

The Yankees are playing the Royals right now... and little mister is wearing his Yankees shirt while we watch that game (and occasionally flipping back for the Braves game).

Don't worry- Matt closed the blinds!

And here was our outfit for around the house on Friday- it's cold in our house.
This outfit is a 3 monther- he is so long! His little feet went all the way down to those shoes!

When Matt came home on Friday I had never been so happy to see him. It is truly exhausting sitting around all day. I always knew I could never be a stay at home mom- I need that social aspect. I told Matt we must get out of the house immediately. I didn't care what we did- JUST GET ME OUT OF HERE. We ended up getting Moe's and taking his sister her birthday present.

I have thoroughly enjoyed our first weekend home together as a family.
Ta-ta for now! :)

Goop.

Gross. Monday when we went to the doctor Christopher had a little white goop in his right eye. No big deal. Blocked tear duct. Massage it every time you change his diaper. Okay. I can handle that. The very next day of course, that eye is healed... and the other is funkified.... way nastier than the other one was. Poor little guy. Thankfully it doesn't bother him and he lets me wipe it off with a warm cloth. .....

So I wrote that first paragraph this morning and by 3:00 I decided to take him to the doctor. It is his blocked tear duct in his one eye but I was able to get a prescription to help him. You only get one set of eyes so I didn't want to take any chances.

His red eye- no goop in this picture.

Yesterday I was determined to get out of the house and do something with him... but the stroller scared me. I was so nervous about getting out in public and not knowing how to get the stroller working or how to get his car seat off of it... the list of things I was worried about could go on and on. However, after realizing that it's almost bikini season and I would be at the beach in 2 months- we went to the park and walked today! I practiced opening the stroller and closing it a lot last night so that I would know exactly what to do. I had the steps I was going to take (leaving the car on for AC, leaving my door open, opening the back hatch, setting up the stroller, locking it right next to his door, etc) all in my head and it was a success. We walked about a mile- which is all my knees could take. My joints aren't fully back to normal yet... but hopefully soon. It felt so good to be outside and get some direct sunlight (for myself)- Christopher was completely shaded.

When we went to the doctor today, I found out that he had gained 5 ounces, now weighing in at 8 lbs 3 oz.  What a relief because if you remember he didn't make it back to his birth weight on Monday when he was supposed to have! But since Monday, he has been wanting to eat every 2 hours during the day and it shows! I was so proud that he beefed up a bit. I guess it makes the demanding-ness of feeding him every two hours worth it.

Mom called me today with some good news- they bought their plane tickets for Memorial Day weekend!! YAY! And I got all registered for the Baptism class at church. I am hoping to get Christopher baptized that weekend. Hopefully it all works out... have some stuff to figure out first! (can't mention it on here but I will soon!)

tummy time

He looks happy here. I am not sure how because this was truly a miserable bath... for all of us!

Time for bed!

awww....

tan face. pale legs.

All my new Thirty-one gear courtesy of my mom and dad!
My parents are the best!

Alright- tomorrow is Friday and I get to spend the whole weekend with Matt and Christopher!!! Everyone have a happy Friday.

It's Someone's Birthday...

Christopher is 2 weeks old today! It is really hard to believe that 2 weeks has gone by already. Someone told me once that your "real" baby comes at 2 weeks- where everything starts to change. Right now he is spending his birthday morning in his swing so that I could eat some breakfast. I thought about taking him out but he looks so happy in his swing so I thought I would blog for a second. He does have the hiccups and of course Stroonz just puked up a hairball. I hope it isn't going to be one of those days!! :)  Christopher and I have nothing on tap for the day. We are just going to spend a relaxing day in. I do need to go through his newborn clothes and pack those away.. well the ones with the feet anyway.

We went to the doctor yesterday. He gained 3 and a half ounces... not quite where he needed to be.. an ounce short actually. When he was born he was 7 lbs 14.6 ounces... and now he is 7 lbs 13.5 oz. Yesterday he ate like crazy though so hopefully he is working on gaining some more weight! He also gained a quarter of an inch so he is 21 and 1/4 inches now. We don't have to go back until his 4 week checkup which is on his 1 month birthday... may 17th.

His umbilical cord thing finally fell off last night as well! Thankfully Matt was the one that found it. In Sex and the City Miranda's cat bats her son's around on the floor- Right now it is sitting on his changing pad upstairs- I should probably throw it away before Stroonz gets it.

Yesterday was my first day alone with Christopher. Crying is normal right? I don't know why I was crying. I love him. I love being home with him. I didn't even cry when he was crying.  It was the random times when I would just be sitting alone or reading him a book. Mom and Becca says it's all part of hormones... well hormones suck. I know part of it is still that my mom isn't here with me- normally it takes me a good day to get over the fact that my parents left- I guess with hormones included it's going to take me a little while longer!

The Falk family came over Sunday to bring us some dinner.

The lasagna was yummy!

Kennedy and Christopher-
I think he is yawning here.

Peyton and Christopher-
That is one crazy widow's peak!

And here are the rest of the pictures that I took Sunday and Monday.
in his swing... attempting to suck his thumb.

asleep in his pack and play

I cannot find a spot for his pack and play down here...
It's either in the sun or under an AC vent. I figure as long
as his face isn't in the sun he is okay.

on the rocker out front...
which didn't last long but we did spend about 45 minutes
on the back deck just hanging out.

That's it for today!!! Everyone have a wonderful day!
