Beach Pictures Part 2

We got out Christopher's baby pool. Uncle Anthony joined in on the fun. I think Christopher finds the pool boring because all he can do right now is float. He likes to be on the move.

Swimming in the pool with Nana and Daddy. Mommy was in there too but Nana didn't do a very good job taking pictures so we had to switch. Christopher lasted maybe 15 minutes in the pool before wanting to get out. He does so much better at the beach where he can run around.

Getting ready to eat dinner at Blue Moon. Christopher had fish and chips for the first time.

Getting ready to relax in a chair after a long afternoon at the beach. I let him go without the rashguard and hat for a bit to try to help him get a little sun on his belly.

Thank you, Aunt Terry, for the Doritos!!

Uncle Anthony was sleeping so Christopher got out his corn popper to wake him up.
I am not sure why I brought 15 different complete outfits for him. I think he has only worn an outfit 3 times while we have been here- all to go out to dinner.

Doing squats- Now he grunts while he does them.

Rocco and I were cuddling on the couch.... until Christopher noticed.

PEPPERONI ROLLS!!! YUMMMMMM.
Thank you, Raquel. Christopher loved his!

Playing with Collin at the beach. He is holding a clump of sand for Christopher to have.

More Dorito eating.

When Christopher was bending over to pick up the cornhole bags... he noticed the clumps. He kept moving from spot to spot trying to pick them up while just seeing them crumble in his fingers.

Clump hunting... and I think a face plant.

He wanted to wear the goggles like Uncle Anthony.

This is from our first morning here. We had breakfast on the porch.

Christopher fell asleep on his walk with Granddaddy, so they put him in the pool to wake him up.

Christopher was crazy yesterday afternoon. We had gone shopping in the morning and after we came home, he was everywhere. He kept taking off my sandals and trying to put them back on.

We began packing to go home yesterday as well since it was a rainy day. I guess Christopher wants to ride in a suitcase. Maybe we won't hear him as much.

Christopher got his first skinned knee! He was running by the pool (a no-no) and he fell.

Dinner with family at Owens Restaurant! Christopher was doing okay being amused by the kids until the waitress put the tray in reaching distance. He grabbed it, Matt said no, and the tears came. :)

Not sure what he was amazed by, but most things get a WHOA.

At dinner.

Nana downloaded some baby games on the iPad. Christopher sits so still and watches. You should hear him imitate a lion. It's very scary.

When I brought Christopher up to go to dinner, Uncle Anthony was wearing almost the same outfit! I took 14 pictures... and this was the best one.

I feel like Christopher has grown up so much since summer began. I can't believe there are only 2 and a half weeks left!! He is doing so much more and has really been using his problem solving skills! Some of my favorites....
I love that when I say are you ready for a nap, he goes and stands next to the gate at the bottom of the stairs or if I ask him to get me something, he goes and picks it up and brings it to me. We had been using a bench to block off the bedroom upstairs and he just realized that he could climb through the bars to get to the other side. Now it's a baby jungle gym and he is quite amused. He brought Granddaddy his hat the other day, dad put it on and told him to put it back... and Christopher put it back right where he found it. And most importantly, his throw is getting better and better.

We have one more day here. Most of the packing is done thanks to a rainy day yesterday so we are getting ready to say goodbye to Anthony, go for a run, and then hitting the beach the rest of the day!

Beach Trip Part 1

I think the best way to do these beach trip posts will be through pictures!

We started our vacation off with an early morning breakfast at IHOP. Dad loves their pancakes. Christopher loves their yogurt and fruit! You can tell by the above pictures how excited Christopher and Matt were to go! We woke up early... played... finished up packing and hit the road for early check-in!

After unpacking and going grocery shopping, we took Christopher down to the beach. Anything that is new (which obviously is a lot right now) gets a WHOA from Christopher.... so you can only imagine how many we heard from him as he was standing in the waves. He is definitely a beach baby. Whenever we tried to steer him away from the water, he would turn around and walk right back in. I asked my friend Becca for beach advice and she said HOLD ON FOR DEAR LIFE! So that is what we did! He is a slippery little sucker though!

This is our beach house this year! Most definitely worth every penny! It was quite hard to find a house not extremely huge since there are only 5 of us, super close to the beach, dog friendly, with a pool, and a central location. Matt did a great job finding it though- and the owners were there to greet us. (Maybe they were checking us out....)

We took Christopher for his first beach day Monday. He stayed for about an hour. I think he could have stayed longer, but I didn't want to over do it on the first day out there for him. It was a gorgeous day- that's Anthony, me, Matt and Christopher.

But of course.... when Christopher wasn't splashing in the waves- he was pushing the utility cart Matt rented. Back and forth- up and down. Mom went last night and got him a little beach wagon to pull around, so hopefully that will work for today!

He wanted to ride too.

Christopher has been loving having his Uncle Anthony around. He kisses him any chance he gets!

Snuggle time with daddy Monday morning.

Mom and I made more Greek yogurt bars for Christopher. This time we did vanilla yogurt, granola, bananas and chocolate chips. YUMMMMMM!

Christopher got to meet some of his cousins Monday evening! He had so much fun and was quite the ham! Not sure what he is going to do when we return home and it's just me and him all day!

Francesca and Christopher! The kids were so sweet with him.

I am so glad we brought the tunnel. It has provided so much entertainment!!

Here is a short video of Christopher the first night at the beach.

And that's it for now! I have tons more pictures, but here are just a few randoms...
We went to see Daddy's friend and his daughter before we left for the beach.

She had girly toys, which Christopher seemed to love.

This is when Matt first made it to Va Beach. Christopher had just gotten up from his nap and was super excited to see him!

Where Did Christopher Go????

I am not sure whose baby I brought with me on vacation- I really don't think he is mine! Since we have arrived, his personality has taken on a new life. I hardly ever have to tell Christopher "no" at home.... but since Monday, I have had to say no and smack his hand so many times! He has started this new thing that whenever I tell him no- he sticks his fingers in his mouth like he is gagging himself! Where in the world did he see that?!?!?! So gross.

We attempted the pool Tuesday but within the first 5 minutes he slipped while walking around the pool and bonked his head. Needless to say, he was a little grumpy after that. All he ever wants to do is walk and walk and walk. Seriously. Even at the zoo- all he wanted to do was walk up and down the ramps. I did go and get him some water shoes for our next trip to the pool.

Yesterday we went to IHOP for breakfast...
and then we got out the baby pool and the sprinkler and let Christopher have some fun running around in the backyard and eating lunch outside. He had a good time with that. I think we will do that again today while we are waiting for Matt, Anthony and Rocco to arrive!!

Yummy chicken nuggets!

Is it just me or does he look huge in this chair? I love watching him try to get into it. He has a couple chairs at home that he sits in that are a little bigger than this and he has to kinda climb into those, so he tries to do that with this chair when all he really has to do is sit back. I guess that's just not challenging enough for him.

Working on his tan!

Sharing an apple with Granddaddy.

We went to the Neely's for the Fourth of July. Mr. Independent walked around the pool again a million times, but he was also quite amused with their downspout. Really?!?! Now I know what to do with Christopher when we are tired of playing inside at home. He would sit there and shove his cars and rubber ducks up the downspout and then pool them out... and then do it again and again! Such fun!

Chowing down on a hot dog!

Christopher got to hang out with Nana and Granddaddy Wednesday night so that I could go to dinner with one of my oldest friends! Matt is the type of person that would still keep in touch with the person who fed his goldfish when he was 5 if he could.... I, on the other hand, am terrible about keeping in touch with ANYONE, but thankfully, it was like we were 10 and still riding bikes to Farm Fresh to buy soap opera magazines to make collages of our favorite "stars".

I hope everyone's weather is as beautiful as ours! Have a great weekend!

Beginning of our Trip

We left early Saturday morning in hopes that Christopher would eat breakfast at home and then fall back to sleep when we got in the car. We aren't "leave at 3 in the morning so the baby will sleep" type of people, so we left at 6:30- which worked out great. He did fall back asleep for about 2 hours and then was super good the rest of the way. He read books and played with his toys.

We finally stopped around 11 and I got in the back with Christopher to feed him lunch and control the iPad for his video pleasure. We downloaded Despicable Me for him which kept him busy for a bit... and then he realized that his feet would control the iPad, so the rest of the trip (which was only about an hour) was a lot of me trying to rig it so his feet wouldn't touch it!

After our great tour of Radford, we stopped at yummy Macado's for lunch!

This is the whole reason we stopped there! I always try to recreate it at home, but it never comes out the same- probably because I use the thin bagels and one slice of pepperoni. I will make those changes next time!

We stopped overnight in Blacksburg for a wedding. Christopher obviously did not understand behavior at weddings because he ran and ran and ran. I didn't even see the actual wedding. It was up at a winery so there was lots of space for him to run and scream. Needless to say, Nana and Granddaddy came and picked him up soon after!

Matt flew home on Sunday and we drove back to Virginia Beach. Mom did a great job getting toys for Christopher to play with there but we did bring the tunnel! It folds up so small and he always enjoys it!

The first night we were here we took a stroller ride down to the park....

to go on the swings!

When we visited in February we tried this, but it was super cold so it wasn't nearly as enjoyable. I think Christopher's favorite part of this trip was the bridge on the playscape which he ran back and forth on over and over and over.

Reading one of Nana's romance novels-
He must of read something he shouldn't have!

Since it was rainy on Monday, we went to the McArthur Mall. This is Christopher looking through the glass elevator there. We only stayed a little bit, as someone was doing his squeals and being pretty loud.

Christopher got this new toy at the mall. He enjoys pushing and pulling it around.

He got the most joy out of pulling the tunnel around and around the downstairs. As long as he is pulling or pushing something, he is pretty happy!

Yesterday was a mix of sun and rain, so we took our chances and went to the...

zoo!
Here are Christopher and Nana looking at the birds.
I didn't get too many pictures while we were there.

The turtledoves.

Running around like a wild man when we got home! He managed to get his arm through his tank top.

Nana bought mini ice cream cones- just the perfect size for Christopher!

Eating and pushing.

And here we are this morning- dancing to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!

Christopher is about to go down for his nap and then we are heading to Ms. Neely's to go to the pool!
