2 Month Check Up

Caleb had his 2 month birthday and checkup this week. He has gained a couple pounds in the last month- weighing in at 11 pounds 5 ounces and is 24 inches long. He is definitely longer and skinnier than Christopher was at this age (he was 12 pounds 12 ounces and 23 1/4 inches long). I most certainly love that I have this blog to refer back to for all of these stats! Christopher was very concerned that Caleb was going to get the "flu shot" and kept telling us to be sure that they didn't give him one. He didn't want Caleb to hurt like he hurt. He is so sweet. I told him that he was going to get shots, but Christopher was okay with that... as long as it wasn't the flu shot. :)

Caleb's 2 month picture.

All smiles before his doctor's appointment.

Christopher wanted to play on the porch....

and Caleb wanted to play on his mat,
so I sat in the doorway with the door open.
Matt came home and was like "what is going on?"

We took Christopher to the library to get some books for the first time. Of course, he picked a Ninja Turtle book. We checked out a couple books and a couple movies. Friday night is going to be pizza and movie night- we got Bernstein Bears Trick or Treat. He said he would only watch it if it wasn't scary.

Bashful baby.

Laying in bed with mommy one morning.

"Look at me! I used to play like this under here!"

Happy Halloween!! :) Hopefully I will post some pictures, but no promises. We leave for Florida on Monday, so we might be kinda busy. :)

Time for Your Check-up

Another week of maternity leave has flown by. I get to play "room mom" at Ms. Jeanne's and I am loving it! I get to make crafts for her, and calendars, and sign up sheets... so fun! Caleb is growing like a weed and really chunking out. I can imagine his weight gain from his one month appointment- we go on Wednesday for his 2 month checkup. He had a really fussy week last week but this week has turned around. He has trouble getting himself to sleep for naps, but since he is kinda clockwork, I put him in his swing and he goes right to sleep. Caleb goes down great at night and sleeps like a champ in his crib, but hasn't quite made the napping thing happen in there.

Christopher is as crazy as ever. He has really developed this great scowl these past few months. I have to admit- he looks a lot like me when he does it. :) He had his second checkup at the dentist yesterday (pics below) and he was awesome. I couldn't believe when he let her use the scraper on his teeth. He was so brave because I could tell parts were uncomfortable for him, as his feet and legs would kinda tense up. We have been working lately on swishing and spitting without getting it everywhere and it showed when we went. I was so proud of him.  After that, we went to the doctor. Christopher has these bumps on his hand and his head and has had them since he was 2, but the doctors are always like- oh those will go away within a year on their- and well they haven't and he has gotten more on his face, so we went to get a prescription to get rid of them finally. He also got his flu shot. He asked if it was going to hurt- and I said, yes it will- a lot, but it will just be for a second and then it's over. He did great and got a new Imaginext toy- his most favorite thing right now. As soon as I pulled that out of my purse, the crying ended immediately.

On the way to the dentist, he was asking me about his Superhero cereal and if it had sugar bugs in it and I told him yes, lots. I also said it was't very healthy for him to eat it and that he needed to start eating yogurt and granola for breakfast again. So he started asking me about lots of other foods and if they were healthy or not. Later in the day, we went to Chick-fil-a with Matt and he had chicken nuggets, applesauce and milk. He asked me if his chicken nuggets were healthy and I said no, and he wouldn't eat them. UGH. Everything he ate the rest of the day, he wanted to know if it was healthy or not, and if it wasn't, he wouldn't eat it. He asked if his pizza was healthy and before I could say no, everyone jumped in and lied to him and told him yes. This morning he asked for yogurt for breakfast and told Matt he couldn't eat cereal that was not healthy anymore. HA. I love him.

Right now, Christopher is full of everything.... Mommy, I'm full of my dinner. Mommy, I'm full of playing outside. Mommy, I'm full of laying in my bed.  (Mommy, I'm full of .....)  :) It cracks me up.

Enjoy the pictures!

All done at the dentist!

Getting all cleaned up!

Caleb loves the lights on his activity mat.

We didn't have yogurt, so he had daddy's cereal and fruit for breakfast.

Hi Caleb! He is getting so big that his 3 month jammies are starting not to fit.

Eric sent Christopher a football helmet. He kinda falls over when he has it on- those things are HEAVY!!

Caleb in his Notre Dame jersey- it's a little big still, but maybe another month and he will fit perfectly into it.

Family photo on the way to church. (Caleb is in the carseat.)

Nana and Granddaddy taking Caleb for a walk so I could run some errands.

I took Christopher to the park and for a picnic with his buddy Elliot again. Christopher climbed to the top of this thing and scared the crap out of me. I told him maybe he could wait to do that again with Daddy.

One night after dinner, I took these 2 munchkins to the playground in our neighborhood. Oh the conversations on our walk there...

HA! :) Poor Caleb.

A couple videos of Christopher singing to Caleb.

Have a great weekend!

Fun on the Farm

**Updated: I cannot believe I forgot to put this story on here! Thanks Kate for the reminder. I was holding Christopher at church Sunday morning and he put his finger in his nose. I told him to get his finger out of there and that now he can't shake hands with people (which was coming up within minutes). I set him down and begin shaking hands and this man in front of us turns around, smiles at Christopher and sticks his hand out. Without missing a beat, Christopher says, "Mommy said I can't shake your hand because I was just pickin' my nose."  :) I am so glad he listens well. HA!

We had a beautiful weekend here! Mom's friend, Joan, came to visit from Virginia Beach. Christopher loved having her here- someone else to give him nonstop attention of course. :)

I was pretty certain we weren't going to be able to go the pumpkin patch again this weekend because of rain, but we braved the morning mist and went. There were very few people there and the weather turned out to be great for us- a little cloudy, but I will take that over massive amounts of people. Christopher loved the pig races they had at the farm. He also got to be the helper for the cow milking presentation. I think his favorite part was the big bounce thing... or maybe the corn maze, or the pony ride,or the hayride, or the hot dog for lunch. He kept saying how excited he was at everything we went to.

Sunday was gorgeous and Christopher and his BFF played outside all day. They broke out their bouncy house, their cars, and every other toy and played all day. Needless to say he was spent by nighttime. Matt had off on Monday, so we kept Christopher home and enjoyed another  nice family day.

Just a few pictures and videos for your viewing pleasure! :)

The beginning of a smile. I snapped too early.

Pretending he is a leprechaun in his football uniform.

Pony ridin'... when he got off, he asked me where his cowboy outfit was because according to Christopher once you ride, you become a cowboy.

Smile!

Cheesing with daddy- that's Caleb covered up in the carrier.

Pic with Nana and Granddaddy before we go on the farm tour.

Daddy again...

Helping out with the demonstration on milking Rosie.

Growing up so fast.

Lunch and a movie. I stole Ms Jeanne's muffin tin idea for lunch. Christopher ate the cupcake liner with M&M's in it first of course.

Preschool fun!

Off to daycare!

A few videos...

Have a great day!! :)

Conversations...

I love listening to Christopher talk. He says the best things...

C (while peeing): Mommy, are you making dinner?
Me: No, I am feeding baby Caleb.
C: Oh, that must be my pee I smell.

We have been teaching Christopher how to shower by himself. He loves it and he feels so big and proud of himself when he gets out.
Caleb was laying on Christopher's bed and Christopher came into the room...
C: Hi baby Caleb! Oh he is smiling at me. He is happy because I showered all by myself.
Me: He is so proud of you!

Christopher went to the store with me and was my helper instead of a cart rider.
C: Mommy, do you want this?
Me: No, I don't like that.
C: Suit yourself.
Me:  What?
C: Suit yourself, mommy.

I tried to get him to help me unload the groceries...
Me: Christopher, hop out of your seat and grab a bag.
C (hands empty): My hands are full.
Me: There is nothing in your hands.
C (hands intertwined): My hands are full of hands.
Thankfully, his common sense turned on and he helped carry bags.

As for Caleb....
We don't really have conversations yet, but he is starting to coo and smile for real- not those fake gas smiles. He also wants to spend most days awake with me. Last week he wanted to sleep in the swing, and these past few days he has been having a lot of trouble figuring out how to fall asleep on his own (insert stressed out mommy face). Once he falls asleep he sleeps for a good 4-5 hours (with a bottle in the middle) but getting there has caused me a few more sparkly hairs.

Enjoy the pictures!

Ready for church!
Matt and I ventured to church last weekend with both boys for the first time. Normally Christopher takes a toy/figure in each hand and all during church we say, be quiet, Christopher, but this time I didn't let him take anything and surprised him with stickers and pretzels and we didn't have to talk to him at all.

He loves his Bolt dog. This was my dog that my friend Amy bought me when we were in elementary school.

Bolt likes to swing.

On our way to lunch- just the three of us.

Big Daddy meeting Caleb for the first time.

Lunch at Mellow Mushroom after Caleb's baptism.

Christopher being a daddy.

Big Daddy with his 4 grandchildren.

This is Austin and Christopher's version of "playing"- in all seriousness they had been playing for hours and were taking a rest. They love their iPads. Austin came knocking on the door this day to get Christopher to play... and out C walked with his iPad in tow and they drove their cars... watching the iPad. :)

Eating Uncle Anthony's ice cream!

One month old. He weighed in at 9 lbs and was 22 and a half inches long at his checkup.

Everyone wears masks while driving to the store right?

Hanging out before bedtime.

Elliot came over yesterday to play with Christopher. Poor Matt was trying to get Caleb to sleep and the boys decided to have band practice.... I put a movie on for them. Aren't they cute? A huge couch and they had to sit right next to each other.

Helping mommy make some witch hats.

Little stud in his suspenders... Matt's daily pic.

Had to send a picture to Matt this morning of both boys. I love my little preschool hunk. :) He is such a good big brother.

At Caleb's baptism. Sara and Anthony are his godparents.

And a video...

We were supposed to go to the pumpkin patch last weekend but the rain put that on hold, so we will go this weekend!
