First Babysitter!

Today Christopher had his first babysitter.  Matt and I had an appointment at 1 and I was just going to bring him with me.  Dana had mentioned last week that she wanted to keep Christopher while we go but I hadn't really given it much thought.  Last night she said it again and both Matt and I agreed that it would probably be good to go ahead and get him used to me not being around ALL the time. Dana and Mags came to stay with him from 12:15 to 2:45... and apparently he was FABULOUS. I mean, I didn't doubt that he would be, but you never know with babies! :)

This is how I left Christopher.  He slept, ate, played on his activity mat and then slept some more! I might have to hire them more often.... while I am home! :)

I know Christopher is only 10 weeks old... but Matt and I went to find out about starting his college savings plan! Holy moly- it seems like so far but I guess it is better to be prepared! It was such a good meeting- I feel like we got a crash course in funds and bonds and all that financial stuff. The good news is Matt and I are right where we should be to retire! (I guess we like to plan everything early!) The bad news is that the cost of college will be almost triple what it is now when Christopher goes! I am sure he will be a genius or star athlete anyway, so whatever we don't save for him he will get in athletic or academic scholarships. NO PRESSURE, LITTLE MAN.

Christopher just loves his activity mat. I was a little mad when we bought it because he seemed so uninterested- I guess he was a little too young to fully appreciate it.  I posted a great video on Facebook of him playing with it- he plays with it every morning now when I get my coffee and eat breakfast.

Cousin Kate's flight was delayed so I sent her this picture while she was waiting on the runway.  I was putting away his laundry and he was laying in his crib watching his mobile go around! (Another thing I was angry for spending money on at the beginning!) And speaking of his crib... someone slept from 9:30 til 5 last night... drank his bottle and then went back to sleep til 8:30! The doctor said he should be sleeping between 4 and 5 hours at his age, so 9:30-5 I will definitely take!

"Let me see that smile!"  Christopher has really stepped it up in the smiling area this week.  When Matt gets home from work- that's his favorite line!

Mom and Dad come tomorrow!!!
Have a great evening!

Cousin Kate's Visit

As you blog readers know, I couldn't wait for Kate to get here.. and now I am sure Christopher can't wait for her next visit! We had such a great time and were so busy the whole weekend. I am just going to upload all the pictures and caption each one.

I will start with their meeting...
Matt picked up Kate at the airport Thursday evening.  Christopher and I were anxiously waiting her arrival.  Doesn't Christopher look like such a bodybuilder in his tank top? You can't see it but he has on mesh workout shorts as well.

The first morning.  We dressed Christopher in his (our) favorite pajamas for Kate. Kate was very excited to wake up to Christopher. The picture she posted to Facebook of him that morning was adorable!

Christopher playing on his activity mat.  He is really starting to like his mat.  He likes to look at the flashing lights at the top of it.. and when the lights stop after 10 minutes.. you better be ready to turn them back on!

Kate watched Christopher Friday for me while I hosted Pinterest Day with my friends.  He was so content sleeping on her that he slept through his 12:30 feeding.... that NEVER happens!

And these were the projects that my friends and I made- unfortunately, I am realizing that I need to repaint the letters for my sign because you can't see the Ls in my name! Kate and I also made some crafts on Sunday since she didn't get to participate!

We had a very packed Saturday! It was tons of fun though.. and super tiring! Of course we had our Saturday walk in the park and then Kate and I got to go to the pool... BY OURSELVES! We went for 2 hours and then came home! These pictures are from when we got home.  Christopher just was smiling and smiling at Kate. It was so sweet. He has smiled so much while she was here.  He is in for a rude awakening when he wakes up tomorrow and she isn't here.

I really like her headband.

Here is that smile at Kate! After this this smile, we took him outside to swing.  Matt, Kate, and I played cornhole- Kate and I got our butts kicked!

Then we got all showered and fresh and headed out to dinner at Chili's.  We tried to go to Hobby Lobby afterwards to get some craft stuff but we walked in at 7:55 and they closed at 8- needless to say, we didn't get to do much shopping.

Kate and I at Chili's.

Chrstopher was up early Sunday morning.. well 8 isn't too early I guess! We had another big day planned- BJs, Michaels, pool, dinner, and a little relaxing!

This is how Christopher spent his time at the pool. Anthony and Matt went up there, got us a canopy and Kate and I ventured up.  The walk up there really puts Christopher to sleep and he slept the whole time we were there.

This is Anthony going down the slide... well, it's his splash into the pool!

Kate enjoying the GA sun, while her friends in Clearwater are getting rained on due to Tropical Storm Debby.

I think this is Kate coming down the slide! :)

After the pool, Anthony played the guitar for Christopher.  He stared at him the entire time he played! When he stopped playing, Christopher got fussy... so he had to keep going! It is nice that one person in the family likes his guitar playing!

I was doing laundry later that evening and when I walked back into the living room... this is what I saw.  Don't they look so sweet!

And here we are this morning! Cousin Kate is getting ready to leave this afternoon! I was hoping that the Tampa airport would be flooded and she was going to have to stay another day but that't not happening!

Mom and Dad are coming on Thursday though so I guess that makes Kate leaving a little easier!  She has been here alot- she came in January for a 3 day weekend... she came in March for my baby shower... and now 4 days for this visit. I guess she will have to come back in September (or sooner!).

Everyone have a great day... and enjoy the sunshine!! :) Happy Summer!

Just Some Pictures!

Someone turned 2 months on Father's Day! We went to the doctor on Wednesday.  The doctor said he was such a laid back baby. Duh. Have you met his dad??? Thank goodness he takes after him! :) However, I think I was a pretty good baby. :)  Christopher is 23 and 1/4 inches long and weighs in at 12 lbs and 12 ounces. He is growing so much. Since his last appointment he has gained 3 pounds and grew an inch.  He is almost out of 3 month clothes! Jeez. Just in the last month he is doing so much more.. like genuinely smiling, making all sorts of cooing baby sounds, focusing on stuff, holding his neck up for such a long time, etc.  So here are his 2 month pictures... My goal at the end is to make something out of the baseballs for his room. I was thinking either a clock or some kind of wall hanging.

This one is my favorite. I never see his neck! :)

We went up to school on Tuesday for lunch and Mandi was there!! :)

That is a real genuine smile! He smiles so much in the morning. I guess waking up to my smiling face would be kind of contagious! :)

Christopher got 2 shots- One of the shots had 3 vaccines in it, which is a relief since I was expecting 4 shots! He also got one of his vaccines in his mouth.  He did so good with his shots though. He whimpered at the first one and screamed at the second one- but once I picked him up he was fine! Such a tough guy.

You can't really see but if you look closely... someone has been attacking his face while he is attempting to find his thumb.  I have filed his nails down but they are still so sharp! I guess I will be filing nightly. I could put the mittens on I guess, but then he will never get that thumb!

Christopher and I went to the pool Friday afternoon.  I fed him his bottle and we were on our way! I walked him up there (thank you Dana for the idea) and he was OUT cold when we got there. Plus, these neck wings really give him great support since he isn't in his car seat.  He slept the entire time we were there! It was amazing.  I got in a solid 2 hours of sun time!! I do predict this to be my whitest summer ever... but at least being next to Matt and Christopher will make me feel better! :)

Well, Cousin Kate is here to visit for the weekend, so I am sure my next post will be full of pictures of her and Christopher!! Mom and Dad will be here in less than a week! Matt and I will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary next weekend and Christopher gets baptized!

Father's Day Weekend

Father's Day weekend seemed to be quite busy- and the best part is that we had absolutely no plans made so we could do whatever we wanted!! Christopher certainly had a packed weekend! He went to many new places and met some new people!

This is how I was woken up on Saturday morning.

Of course, we did our weekly walk in the park. It was a beautiful morning and Christopher got in a nice nap to start his day. Daddy took Christopher home and I went to the gym for my one day a week visit- STINKS- but I am sure I will get to go more soon (or as Christopher gets older and we can face leaving him in there).

We are currently obsessed with pajamas for Christopher- they are the cutest things.  He still gets his nightly bath, all bedtime lotioned up and then put into his cute pjs. He looks so cozy and cuddly.  We went to Kohl's for Matt to get some stuff and I went to get some more pajamas- plus he is growing like a weed so I had to pack most of his pjs away that he was currently wearing! I have them in the laundry right now and can't wait to see how cute he looks in them tonight! After Kohl's, we ventured to church.  It worked out perfectly because church started at 4:30, he was sound asleep and he wasn't due to eat until 5:45.  We had a guest priest who told this story about his life and at the very end- the whole congregation clapped. I think both Matt and I turned our heads to him so quickly they could have snapped off.  Even the sweet old lady behind us started to clap and then stopped suddenly and looked over at him! He made it through though- even when we took him out of the carrier to go up to communion. We hadn't done that before- but I carried him up there for him to be blessed by the priest.  He was a dream! After church we headed to Parkside to sit outside and eat- and our friends were there on the patio!!! It is so fun when you randomly run into people.

Here is Christopher with Davida!

sucking on his arm

and Rachel- I forgot to get one of her and Christopher!

It was nice to see the ladies- and Stacy!!- I don't have a picture of her to post. :(   What was really awesome was that Davida held Christopher the whole time so Matt and I were able to eat- he was awake when we were on our way there so we figured one of us would be holding and trying to eat at the same time (which I think I am pretty good at now).  Christopher is not a huge fan of sitting in the car seat if he is awake.

We came home from dinner and hung out on the porch for awhile.

big eyes, big cheeks!

For Father's Day I told Matt we could do whatever he wanted all day long. I never say that. In fact, we normally do whatever I want to do. :)  Matt got to sleep in til 9:15 and I had his favorite donut waiting for him. (Plus, I always get Dunkin Donuts coffee on the weekend!) Matt wanted to go fishing so we went down to Lake Acworth.  Matt didn't catch anything. :(
The bridge we stook on while Matt fished.

Matt's been wanting to try out this restaurant Arena Tavern so we went there for lunch.  It was okay- they had a Father's Day lunch special and we ended up eating more like a dinner than a lunch.

This was Matt's Father's Day outfit for Christopher that Nana bought.

And this was our set up for cornhole.

We fed Christopher, carried his swing down, put him in the shade and us in the sun! Matt and I played cornhole for almost 2 hours! We played so many variations, but my favorite was when we played lefty- I made three in the hole and won! And yes- I had my first beer. Do you see it sitting on that board? It went down really well! :) We also went to LoriBell's for frozen custard- if your child said "My dad is Mr. Wonderful" then the dad got theirs for free. They let me say it for Christopher. :)

And we ended the day with this book- Matt read it to him.
So sweet.

I hope that all of you had wonderful Father's Day weekends!
That's it for now-

What Shall We Do Today?

Rainy day Monday was not very fun! I don't remember the last time we were confined to the house with nothing to do- well, I should say nowhere to go.  I know I could have taken Christopher out and about inside somewhere, but during the summer it's more fun to out and about OUTSIDE. I did get a few things done inside the house- for instance, I propped Christopher on the island and did a cooking show with him on how to make sweet potato fries.  After that I brought over the dreaded junk drawer and we went through that. When Christopher is awake I try to talk to him most of the time- let's just thank God that he doesn't understand anything I say right now. :)

We made up for a boring Monday by doing a lot on Tuesday!! We got up and walked 4 and half miles at he park... oh wait. That happened AFTER I discovered that my keys were locked in my car. When I get out of the car, I normally have a list of things to carry in- a drink, my cell phone and Christopher.  So I think it is much easier to just leave my car keys in my driver's seat. The garage door is always shut so really it's not a huge deal. Well, I guess it becomes a huge deal when your husband's key looks just like yours... and if you hit the unlock button on your key and don't open the doors within 20 seconds, it automatically locks. Matt did that Tuesday morning.... therefore, locking my keys in the car. It wouldn't have been that bad if I hadn't packed away the spare keys in a holiday box... notice I said "holiday" box- because I was unsure of which holiday box they were in so down to the basement to look through Easter boxes, Valentines boxes, St. Patty's boxes, Thanksgiving boxes, and finally Christmas boxes.... and at the bottom of one of the ornament boxes were my spare keys! So even though the situation itself sucked at the time, I found my spare keys!!! :) After all that, we made it to the park and walked with Julie.  We were done just in time for lunch at Miss L's. I LOVE Miss L's. (I got the #6 this time- turkey breast, mayo, apple butter, cucumbers and tomato- delish!)  Christopher had lunch there too- unfortunately for him... it was no #6 :)  Then we were off to visit Lisa and Emerson! Christopher looked so big compared to little Emerson! He sure is growing so quickly.  In fact, one of my friends on Facebook posted that her daughter had her 1 year checkup and weighed 19 pounds- holy crap, I think Christopher already weighs 12 or 13 pounds and he is only 2 months. Oh my goodness and then we even went to Big Pie in the Sky for dinner. WOW. I knew we did a lot on Tuesday.. but that really was A LOT!

Sleeping on Miss Julie

Wednesday we had to get Father's Day cards at Hallmark and were off to lunch with Daddy and Becky! Becky had worked with Matt and moved to the Birmingham Apex office.  She was in town working out of the Atlanta office and requested to have lunch with Christopher! She could have had lunch with anyone and picked him... so sweet! There's no one else quite like Becky!! :)

Becky and Christopher

Matt and Christopher

and this is what we do every night... Facetime with mom! :)

Right now, Christopher is sleeping- just waiting on him to wake up so we can go walking in the park! I am thinking about taking him up to the pool today- we shall see.

Speaking of sleeping- Christopher is finally sleeping in his crib. It makes me kind of sad that he stays in there all night.  Last week we split where he slept- depending on the burp. :) Sunday night we decided to go ahead and do it. We bathed him, read to him, fed him, cuddled a bit, and put him in his crib- awake, but sleepy. Within 10 minutes he was out. :) He didn't cry or whine- just made a bunch of super cute baby noises and was out! He has done that every night so far... and hopefully tonight is no different since I just blogged about how great he has been!

He has also been smiling more- well, he has always smiled those gas smiles.  Now he does the actual real smile.  I am glad that I can tell the difference! :)

Countdowns-
Kate will be here in 1 week!
Mom and Dad will be here in 13 days.

Everyone have a wonderful day!! :)
